A web host is a company that provides you with the necessary tools required for creating your website. This is usually the servers plus the operating systems for this. In fact some of the web hosts provide for both domain registration and web hosting; Sasahost web solutions is one such web host.

During the selection process for the web host, since they are so many, it would be good for you to look for the features you would like. Some of this are the disk space allocations, the bandwidth accorded to the hosting packages and the little feature that may be used to improve your website such as blogging scripts, forums etc. If you are a newbie to creating websites and you do not want to learn about HTML coding maybe you can look out for web hosts who provide website builders that require no HTML coding. If they provide the website builders for free, that would be a win for you.

Its also good that you know what type of hosting you would like. This can be used to vet out any web host who does not have the type of hosting you would like. The various types of hosting in the market are:

1. SHARED WEB HOSTING: In this case your website and other people's and business' websites share the web host's resources in this case being the host's servers.

2. CO-LOCATION WEB HOSTING: You provide the server and the web host provides you with the space to place it and the maintainance of the machine. You have full control of the server.

3. DEDICATED WEB HOSTING: The web host provides you the server and gives you full control of it.

4. MANAGED HOSTING: The web host provides/leases the server to you but does not grant you full control over the machine.

5.RESELLER WEB HOSTING: This is just a client of another web host who is selling the former host's hosting services. They will mostly provide technical assistance to you.

Once you have selected the web host and even bought one of their hosting packages, you will receive an Email from the web host as confirmation that they have set up your account. This Email may also have details on how you will access your account. Plus, it may give you your Username and Password for the purposes of logging into your Control Panel. The cPanel is important in: following up on such things as your website's bandwidth, the traffic to your website, installing scripts such as blogging scripts, bulletin boards etc. Once you have this information you are now ready to start building your web pages.
